Zād al Mustaqni' Term 15
Study Ḥanbali Fiqh (Zād al Mustaqni'). Resuming from the Book of Inheritance (Dhawil Arḥām)
Written by Imām Mūsā al Ḥajjāwi (d.968h), Zād al Mustaqni' is an abridgement of Ibn Qudāmah's al Muqni'. Scholars of the Ḥanbali school of thought accepted al Ḥajjāwi's work to such an extent that some observed that its memorisation and understanding made one fit to serve as a judge. This text is ideal for those who have already studied an entry level text in Ḥanbali Fiqh.
The aim is to complete the entire text by the will of Allāh ﷻ. This term will resume from the Book of Bequests (Kitāb al Waṣāyā), leading onto the Book of Inheritance. The aim of the class is for students to have a firm grasp of the masāʾil of fiqh according to the Ḥanbali school. By doing so, a student will have the foundations to develop a deeper understanding of the principles and philosophy of Islamic Law. New students are welcome to join us!

Interactive learning
This course is aimed at students who have already studied fiqh before. It is not suitable for students who have never studied fiqh before. Knowledge of Arabic is not essential but desired. Please note, this text is based on the Ḥanbali school of thought and that is what will be taught. It is not a class in comparative fiqh.
The classes are delivered live via Zoom using high quality audio and visuals. The classes are interactive allowing students to ask questions via both audio and the chat box. Moreover, the class will have a dedicated Telegram channel allowing students to engage with the teacher throughout the duration of the course. The class will be delivered in English.
This class is an open-ended class and so there is no fixed completion date unlike the other classes. We have completed more than a half of the text and anticipate to complete the text within a couple of years. Tuesdays, 7:30-9:30pm GMT. Resuming: 7/1/25. Duration of term: 8 Weeks.
There will be weekly assessments assigned. They will be short multiple choice assessments and will be reviewed at the beginning of each class.
No, although it highly encouraged. If a student misses a class they can view the recording for the lesson on the student portal. Please note, each recording will remain on the student portal for 2 weeks only. We do not provide lifetime access to our classes as we expect students to view the classes on a regular basis and complete the course within the term time.
We do not currently offer recordings for previous terms openly, however, if a student registers for a current term and does well in the weekly assessments, we can arrange access to previous terms.
