Fasting is one of the fundamental pillars of our religion. Therefore, learning how to fast correctly is of paramount important. This series of classes is taken from our ongoing study of the famous classical text in Ḥanbali Fiqh: Zād al Mustaqniʿ by Imām al Ḥajjāwi.

Who is this course for?

This class will be suitable for anyone who wants to learn about the fiqh of fasting in detail. It is ideal for those who already know the absolute basics but want to delve deeper into the issues relating to fasting. Please note, this class covers Ḥanbali fiqh. Other opinions are sometimes discussed, but it is not a comparative fiqh class. 

How are the classes delivered?

Please note, this class was recorded with a group of students. The visuals and audio are of a very high quality. Although there will be no live interaction with the teacher, you will have the opportunity to ask questions via a dedicated Telegram group and have your questions answered by the course teacher. 

How long is the course for?

Topcis & Objectives

There are 9 classes in total, each class being 2 hours long. Students will have access to all of the lessons for 3 months. 

Topics include:​

  • How to determine the beginning of the month

  • Who is required to fast and who is not

  • What breaks the fast

  • Rulings to related to making up fasts

  • Recommended fasts

  • Spiritual Seclusion (Iʿtikāf)

Assessments

Student Portal

There is a multiple choice assessment for each class. 

The student portal will contain:

  • Resources

  • Assessments 

  • Recordings of lessons.

Access to the 9 lessons (approx. 18 hours): £30

The course will be delivered by the founder of Tawfīq Online Learning, Alomgir Ali, a graduate of al Azhar University (BA Islamic Law) who also possesses a BA in Arabic and English.
